The fishing ground of Jämsänjokilaakso begins on lake Petäjävesi and ends to lake Päijänne. The lakes of the fishing ground are little and dark watered and there are rapids and races between the lakes. An excellent way to fish on the rapid is to use a canoe. On the old cultural area of Jämsänjokilaakso there is a lot to see. For example the old church of Petäjävesi is on the route. The speciality of the fishing ground is the crater lake Karikkoselkä which is round and like kettle. The depth of the lake is 25,5 metres and the water there is not as brown as in the other lakes in the area. The waterway ends after the river Jämsänjoki in the open lake Tiirinselkä of lake Päijänne. The pike and pike perch productivity is high in the lakes of the fishing ground because of the ideal conditions. Lake trout you can catch on the open lake Karikkoselkä or near the currents. There has not been built places on the lake to take a brake but there are enough uninhabited shores where it is possible to go ashore.
