Lake Etelä-Konnevesi is one of the most beautiful lakes in Central Finland. In the lake there are only a few open lakes and plenty of islands. The water is clear in the lake and the shores are rugged and rocky. There are a little settlement on the shores of the lake. The most wanted catch of lake Konnevesi is lake trout of the population of Rautalampi water way. There are a lot of banks as well as ranges of rocks which are excellent places to troll. The lake is oligotrophic. There are vegetation only in a few bays. There it is possible to catch pike but there are not a lot of pike in lake Etelä-Konnevesi. In the lake there is also an excellent powan population and it is possible to catch powan with casting tackles. On the lake there is early Finnish championships in powan fishing. On lake Konnevesi there are excellent places to go ashore as well as places which are provided with leans-on. For example Lapinsalo is a beatiful place to go ashore and take a brake. There are many places where you can launch your boat. . There are navigation routes marked with spar-buoys on lake Konnevesi. It is available charts and base maps with contour lines from the lake. You should have charts with you on lake Konnevesi. In the idyllic harbour of Konnevesi begins a jungle of spar-buoys. The navigation route is narrow and like a canyon. It is a difficult place for an inexperienced boater. The sound of Kivisalmi divides the lake to Pohjois-Konnevesi and Etelä-Konnevesi. Pohjois-Konnevesi is more eutrophic and lowlying than Etelä-Konnevesi. From Pohjois-Konnevesi it is possible to go to lake Keitele and lake Niinivesi via canals. With the fishing permit it is allowed to fish in the parts of lake Konnevesi which are in Central Finland as well as in lakes Kynsivesi and Kuusivesi. Lake Kynsivesi is long and narrow and the water quality is like in lake Etelä-Konnevesi. Lake Kynsivesi is situated between rapids. Lake Kuusvesi is the lowest lake of the fishing ground which is a bit more eutrophic than lake Kuusvesi. It is an excellent place to fish pike perch. On both lakes it is possible to catch anadromous lake trout. Between the lakes there are several rapids where are lake trout. The rapids Keskisenkoski and Tarvaalankoski are in common use for fishing.
