The short rapid Muittarinkoski is situated in the village of Muittari in Saarijärvi. It is one of the rapids on the waterway of Saarijärvi. The rapid Tuhmakoski, which is located above the Muittarinkoski, is also a part of the waterway of Saarijärvi. There are a lot of settlements at the shores of the rapid, and there is also a bridge across the rapid. There is a quiet water area after the short and swift upper rapid. Below the bridge the rapid is extremely swift and the best lodges are near the shores. The rapid Muittarinkoski empties into lake Mahlunjärvi, which empties into lake Saarijärvi via the rapid Riekonkoski after 3 kilometres. The rapid Riekonkoski is a typical wild rapid. There are big old European aspens on the shores of it. Casting near the shores is difficult because of the amount of vegetation. You should have trousers for wadding. There are no settlements on the shores of the rapid. The area above the rapid Riekonkoski is wide and stony. It is an excellent fly fishing place. There are several small islands and beds in the upper part of the river. There are strong foams in the middle of the rapids. There is a quiet water area before the rapid Taivalkoski, which is the last swift rapid in the area. There is a fireplace with a cooking cover at the shore of the rapid Riekonkoski.
