Grayling - Fly fishing on running waters in Finland

Grayling is one of the most wanted catches for fly fishermen. It is possible to catch big grayling, weighing even over 1 kg, on rapids in Central Finland. The best way to catch grayling is fly-fishing.

Grayling are often beside currents and deep water areas in rapids. Grayling stay always near the bottom but they rise often.

Grayling stays in areas above waterfalls and in slow-flowing quiet water areas in late winter. Fly-fishing season begins in spring when there are a plenty of pupas in rapids. This is an excellent season to fish grayling. This short season is usually in March but the time varies depending on weather.

The grayling fishing season begins after spawning in the early summer and the best season is in August and in the beginning of September. In spring and autumn the best time to catch grayling is during the day and in the midsummer in the darkness.

Grayling is fished with wet and dry flies.

Welcome to fish on the clean waters of Finland!
