Trolling on lakes in Finland
There are excellent circumstances for trolling in Finland. It is easy to go trolling on the big lakes in Finland because the permit systems are excellent. There are enough waters and fish.
You need a boat to troll. it is also possible troll with a rowing boat but a motor is preferred on big lakes. Several rods, usually 2-5 per boat, are often used when trolling but it is also possible to use close to 20 rods at the same time. The lures are set to swim in the same depth where fish are likely to swim. If the depth is not known, lures are set to swim in different depths with extra weights, downrigger or divers. About 10-30 metres of line should be used, so that it is possible to turn without problems. You need rod holders if you use multiple rods. If you use only few rods, you can hold them in your hands. The trolling route is chosen depending on the trolling method. If trolling is done on the surface, it does not matter what the route is. Generally you should stay close to probable lodges. Ends of capes, ranges of rocks, shallows and sounds are excellent lodges.
There is an excellent network of places where you can launch your boat and places to take a break in Finland.
