Weir fishing in Finland

Weir fishing is an easy way to catch fish. Fishing with weirs is usually done in summer, but it is also possible in winter. Perch, roach, pike and bream are the types of fish which are fished with a weir.

A boat is generally used for weir fishing, but it can also be done from a shore by throwing or by using a stock for help. A rushy shore is usually the right place for weir fishing. There is no need to check the weirs for catch every day, because fish will stay alive within a weir for days.
