Casting on lakes in Finland

Casting is the most popular leisure fishing method in Finland. Casting is possible and effective in nearly all waters in the province. Pike and Perch are the most important catches on lakes. Rainbow trout and brown trout are fished on special fishing grounds.

Casting is possible at shores and also from a boat. It is better to use a boat on big lakes.

If fishing from a boat, casting is usually done from the deep water side to the shallow water, for example, near a rushy shore or a range of rock. Probable lodges should be fished systematically. If fishing from a shore, let the lure sink near the bottom before reeling it in.
