The rapid Kouheroistenkoski is the first rapid of the Saarijärvi water way. Lake Pääjärvi empties into the little pond Hepolampi via the rapid Kouheroistenkoski. After pond Hepolampi begins the rapids Heijostenkosket. The rapid Kouheroistenkoski begins under the bridge. The beginning of the rapid is swift and in the end there is a slow race. In the end of the race there is a bay-like quiet water area and after it there is a short race before pond Hepolampi. The rapid is spout-like and deep. The water is brown in the rapid and that you should notice when you are choosing your lure. There is settlement on the shores of the rapid and the fishermen’s should not disturb the inhabitants. The most wanted catch in the rapid Kouheroistenkoski is lake trout which is stocked size limited. Fish from the rapids Heijostenkosket and river Karajoki can rise into the rapid Kouheroistenkoski. Grayling is naturalized in the rapid in the 1990’s with fry plantations. On the rapid there has not been built places to take a brake. The fishermen’s can use the services from the holiday village nearby the rapid Kouheroistenkoski.
