Kymönkoski is the last rapid on the waterway Kolima-Keitele. It is a short but swift rapid. The area above the waterfall is one of the best fly fishing grounds in central Finland. The flow of the rapid is very fast under the bridge as well as in the middle of the rapid. The lower part of the rapid has strong flows too. The rapid Kymönkoski, as well as all the other rapids on the waterway of Kolima-Keitele, have been restored to their natural state. Dozens of 'pits' have been dug and dozens of rocks have been brought there in order to provide fish with places to hide in. You can fish in old village milieu on the rapid Kymönkoski. The rapid flows through the village of Kymönkoski and there is a bridge across it. Even though the rapid is located at a very central spot, it has a fireplace and plenty of room for tenting. You can fill your food supplies and buy your fishing permits at the Kymöjoki shop, which is located close to the rapid. Anadromous lake trout come first to the rapid Kymönkoski and that is why it is quite easy to catch a trout from the rapid. The rapid has been planted with lake trout, all over the minimum size limit, as well as with grayling fry.
