The rapid Survosenkoski is about one kilometre long rapid fishing ground. It consists of two rapids, which are each about 100 metres long, divided by a quiet water area between them. The ground is situated between lakes Kalmavesi and Iso-Rautavesi and it is a part of the waterway which begins from lake Petäjävesi and ends into the river Jämsänjoki. The fishing ground of rapid Survosenkoski begins at the bridge with the rapid Survosenkoski, which is about 100 metres long. The rapid is quite steep and it flows in two main beds. The fishing ground continues as a river, which is a quiet water area of about 350 metres in length. The last part of the fishing ground is the 80 metres long rapid Myllykoski. At the end of the river there is also a little race/rapid. The scenery of the fishing area is old, idyllic landscape. There are old mills and old ruins of a mill on both shores of the rapid Myllykoski. There are also some abandoned farms in the area, but currently the are no permanent settlements. There are cooking covers with fireplaces on both rapids. The boating route “Wanha Vitonen” from lake Petäjävesi to lake Jämsä goes via the rapid. There is also a map available for paddlers. The fish population in the rapid Survosenkoski is maintained with platings of rainbow trout and lake trout. It is also possible to catch andromous lake trout because there are big lakes near the rapids. Since summer 1999 it has been possible to buy 12 hour permits to the rapid Survosenkoski. The situation with parking spaces, too, has been improved during the summer of 1999.
